Professional Oppression

Although the term Professional Oppression feels like the correct term for these thoughts, I did a little research hoping to gain additional supporting thoughts on the subject.  All I found was an over complicated and over verbalized mass of words and topics ranging anywhere from mental health jargon to comments about brutal dictators and totalitarian governments.  Professional Oppression has nothing to do with those types of situations but could be considered a damaging form of oppression all the same.

In the United States of America there are so many processes, fees, insurances, regulations and other items that are part of starting up and running a business that it is highly probable that many potential business operators are deterred from going out on their own.  Many new discoveries, inventions and technologies will never come about due to the amount of official obstacles that block inspiration and innovation.  Governments vote in more taxes and regulations in a fit to generate more revenue to feed the hunger of the perpetual political machine that they have created.  How many great ideas and potential life altering inventions are setting out there unable to rise to the surface as a result of this form of professional oppression?

There were some amazing experiments, inventions and technologies that came about during World War II.  It is truly amazing what the human spirit can achieve when there are fewer obstacles in the way of creative thinking.

Being the person that is the "go to" person for certain needs can be a good feeling.  We all need to feel important and useful.  When someone else comes along with knowledge of your self-proclaimed specialty, it can feel like a threat to the security of your job.  As they prove their abilities there are those who feel the need to take actions to "bring that person down to earth" or to "put them in their place".  The thought is that there is a new person and they have not worked in the company long enough to make their own decisions or showcase their skills.  The instigator in holding that person back is openly broadcasting the fact that they are intimidated by this person and they have decided to employee negative means in what they perceive as securing their position.  It becomes obvious that the instigator is a bad person and as word gets out to other employees this person looses their credibility and trustworthiness with their co-workers.  Would it not be better to take a positive and supportive approach and work closely with that person so that each is sharing their skills and knowledge and both of you end up being more capable and stronger in the profession.  Allow me to repeat the above in a more comparative manner:
Professionally damaging the new person and as a result loosing your credibility and trustworthiness, makes both employees weaker.  Sharing information and learning together will make both employees stronger.

When actions are taken that damage, destroy or professionally oppress others, the "attacker" will also end up on the loosing side of the equation.  No one wins.  Embracing the new person's abilities will free up time allowing for the expansion of knowledge into other areas.  New skills and areas of specialty can be developed and professional advancement could come about as a result of the increased knowledge and skills.

We all know there are large egos in all industries and we all should know that there is always someone that can do our job better than we do.  It is true that no one is indispensable and if you think that you are indispensable then perhaps you should check your ego before you get a surprise that is a surprise only to you.

After the Fact

While in attendance at a metal music festival I was observing some of the various suggestive graphics being flashed up on huge displays, all around the stage, during a well known "shock rocker's" performance.  I began to think about whether or not I should be critical of what was being displayed.  I was feeling a little uncomfortable and was thinking that these types of graphics were not necessary, especially since the music was really good.  I began wondering if and how this might affect the weaker minds of any one of the thousands of people that were witnessing the same thing that I was.  At that moment my sense of self-evaluation kicked in and a thread of thought began to unwind inside my mind.

  • Am I being influenced by this?
  • Why am I not being influenced by this?
  • Who could be influenced by this?
  • Would complaining or public denunciations of such acts help keep those people from being innocently put in situations like this?
  • Why does it seem that society always takes a reactionary path and not a preventative one?
  • Why do we prefer to whine and complain after something has happened when we did nothing to prevent it from happening?
  • What could be done to help people to be able to understand the difference between show drama and real life?

My thoughts rested on the fact that we do not do enough education to young minds in the areas of good decision making, knowing right from wrong, knowing the difference between a truth and a lie and building a level of self confidence to be able to stand strong in beliefs and be able to admit when a mistake has been made.

It could be argued that the traditional education base of reading, writing and arithmetic is not enough and quite possibly never has been enough.  Science, geography, history and such, provide great knowledge and can exercise the mind but the key elements of forming the mind's ability to articulate life decisions, is missing.  Minds that have not been sufficiently trained can be defenseless when encountering unfamiliar or unique situations in life.  A mind without any training will be more likely to make a bad choice.

A large portion of the lawyers, politicians and regulations that we all complain about, have had to be put in place because of an individual or group of individual's inability to make good decisions, to know right from wrong, to know the difference between the truth and a lie, not having a level of self confidence to stand strong in their beliefs or not being able to admit mistakes.  Children need this training when they are young.  They need it at a time before life has had a chance to impose its own random and sometimes brutal training on them.  They need it at a time when their brains are absorbing every little thing that they see, hear, smell, taste and feel.

Advance Without Advancing

A news reporter was reporting about how a projected species of owls were being killed off by another species of owls.  The reporter stated that the parks and wildlife department was being forced to consider killing off one species to save another.  She went on to report that this was causing questions to be raised about whether or not nature should be allowed to run its course.  At that moment there was the thought that if nature was allowed to run its course with humans there would be a lot of people that would not be here.

You have probably heard the expression that a chain is only as good as its weakest link.  There are an ever increasing number of "weak links" in humanity that hold the species as a whole to a lower level.  As this sector of humanity increases, governments must come up with more and more funds for programs that "tow along" the non-productive elements of humanity.  The energies of the productive elements of humanity, are consumed by dragging along the unproductive elements, leaving few resources available for advancing humanity.

Everything in nature has an opposite.  Nature is in a perpetual cycle of always trying to maintain a balance between all elements.  The dark and the light, the good and the bad, the healthy and the sick.  There cannot be one without the other and each is always working to keep the other under control.  As the human population continues to grow and be an ever increasing force on the planet, nature must work even harder to maintain the balance that is being drastically effected by humanities blind advances.  New diseases, stronger storms, water shortages, are all part of a natural system of increasing intensity to balance out the equation.

Human beings are capable of so much and yet they do so little in taking care of their species and their surroundings.  Where would humanity be if entitlements were abolished and nature were allowed to balance things out naturally?

1,000th Anniversary

My friends and former Earthlings.  Today marks the 1,000th anniversary of our departure from Earth as humanity once again stretched its legs and looked outside of its seemingly insurpassible boundries for a new life.

We honor our generations of ancestors, not just from our mission but the other two missions as well.  We pray that they have had the same blessings and fortunes in their missions as we have had in ours.

We honor those fore-thoughtful minds who bravely stood by their predictions of life ending disasters on Earth providing the push that changed the purpose of the H E missions from an "exploration" category into a "survival of the species" category.  Had they not stood by their convictions, none of us would be here today.

We remember and acknowledge the incredible agony that was running through the minds of the mission decision makers in knowing that they were sending living, breathing human beings into outer space, never to return and never to be seen by the eyes of Earth again.

We mourn all those who have lost their lives in this journey.  Whether the loss was a sacrifice to keep others from danger or a loss from reaching the end of their time in life, all have contributed to the survival of this mission and more importantly the survival of the human species.

For those who decided to stay behind on the resource planets and asteroids, please take all necessary precautions to keep your life support and communication equipment operational.  We deeply appreciate your sacrifice and efforts to provide the mission with needed resources.  Know that we respect your decision to stay behind and also know that you are deeply missed by all.

We continue to pray that the loss of communications with Earth 243 years ago was not due to a life extinction event on our mother planet.  Although our very mission is designed with that specific scenario in mind, we will continue to keep our prayers active for the continuation of life on Earth.

Looking forward, each of us must never forget where we came from, who we are and why we are on this mission.  There is not and never has been an option for turning back.  Humanity will either survive as a result of the continued successes of this mission or it will cease to exist if this mission fails.  Tau Ceti grows larger in front of us each day reminding us of the importance in keeping the parameters and objectives of this mission clear and that all actions we take should be taken in support of those mission objectives.

May God continue to bless each and every one of you and your efforts for the continuation of the human race.  We are all in this together and I love each and every one of you.  Thank you.

Biography of Phillip Magroin

Phillip Henry Magroin was born on October 30th, 1938 in Trenton New Jersey.  It was the night of the famous Orson Wells radio broadcast of the War of the Worlds and Phil's mother, Sharron Magroin, was one of those who panicked thinking that the show was an actual broadcast.  In her frantic frenzy to get out of town she was hit by a train as she crossed the tracks near where she lived.  Upon the impact little Phil squirted out and shot two blocks over, landing on a pile of reject mattresses that happened to be on the dock of a mattress factory.

With little Phil's mother wrapped around the axle of a steam locomotive, she wasn't going to be in very good shape to be a parent.  Phil was adopted and cared for by her brother, who just happened to be an employee of the mattress factory and was at work the night that Phil landed on the dock.  When it came time to pick a name, Phil's uncle, now officially his dad, remembered how one of the startled dock workers had yelled out "Jesus Henry Christ", upon seeing the newborn fall out of the sky and onto the dock.  He didn't think it proper to outright name him Jesus Henry Christ but did want to give Phil a name that connected him in some way to the uniqueness of that night.  With that in mind Phil's dad named him Phillip, the name of the co-worker that had yelled out the profanities, and then used the name Henry as the middle name.  With the names officially in place, Phillip Henry Magroin began his life.

Drama, trauma and tragedy were with Phil all of his life.  At a very young age his parents would dress him up as a lab rat and rent him out to the local laboratory.  It was two years before the laboratory realized what was going on and had to put a stop to it.  Unfortunately there were a large number of drugs that had to be recalled when they realized that Phil was not a lab rat therefore skewing all of the data that was collected during the research.  Ironically, one of the drugs that was developed while Phil was doing time as a lab rat was the drug that he was prescribed to treat a life threatening infection that he had developed due to a wedgie.

By 1956 Phil had finished high school and had received a full scholarship to Fairleigh Dickinson University.  His life as an undergraduate student was relatively uneventful.  He went most all the way through his studies without having selected a major.  That changed about half way through his last year as he set alone in his dormitory after smoking a joint.  He claims that his dictionary started speaking to him in tongues.  He found that rather odd because it was an English dictionary and he didn't understand how an English dictionary could be speaking in other languages.  Furthermore, when had the dictionary had time to learn all of these other languages.  A few days later, after the smoke had cleared, Phil marched into the deans office and declared that he would be majoring in world literature and that his goal in life was to have a text font named after him.  Phil graduated with honors a few months later.

Phil spent several years in different jobs that were relevant to his degree.  None of them seemed to last more than a few months.  In early 1965 Phil decided that it was time to do something different and took a job in the warehouse of Jersey Paper Company.  He had finally found steady employment and over the years begin to advance his career.  Phil had been promoted to a quality control supervisor position in the 8 1/2" x 11" division for only six months when he lost his job due a dyslexic moment that caused thousands of reams of blank paper to be manufactured backwards at 11" x 8 1/2".

Phil had lost all interest in industrial America and the capitalist mechanism.  He felt completely without cause.  A couple of months later he noticed an "orphans for sale" sign in a neighborhood window and became infuriated at the gesture.  From that point on he grew to become a formidable activist for orphans and drew world-wide attention to orphans rights with his OFUQ (Orphans for Unbiased Quality) program.

Phil died at the age of 82 moments after coming out of a meeting with Microsoft where he was unsuccessful at getting them to add a text font to Microsoft Word that was named after him.  He never revealed to anyone what the Phil Magroin font looked like, carrying that information with him to the grave.

Hawks, Lizards and Depression

Results from a recent 20 year study on depression and its origins have arrived at a conclusion that few doctors and scientists have been willing to accept.

The study was carried out with the willing participation of bearded dragon lizards and red tail hawks. Reports from insiders of the experiment claim that many of the animals died during the experimental process including 1 murder suicide that was eligibly carried out by one of the lizards. The source of this information also reports that there is a police investigation underway to determine how a known reptilian under medical care was able to obtain an assault rifle.

In a secretive review of the data from the experiment it was obvious that all but 1 of the lizards had died or were eaten by the hawks. The sole survivor had been allowed to survive by the hawks due to the fact that he was providing them with weed.

The results of the study conclude that in many cases the depression is triggered when a conflict between a past life and the present life occur. In this study it was discovered that the lizards had been hawks in their past lives and the hawks had been lizards in their past lives. Living a life as a predator and then living a subsequent life as prey to the previous life, showed to be a source of incredible stress and anxiety that lead to alcohol and drug use in all cases. The data showed that once the hawks discovered they could get "a buzz" by eating a loaded lizard, the experiment had to be shut down.

I.B. Leevit

The untimely death of Inis Bradford Leevit brings to an end an era of unique and creative thinking that has spanned many centuries.  The Leevit family has long been considered as one of the most influential families on the planet.  Family members throughout recorded history were constant contributors to humanity with their endless innovations and inventions.  Based on recent pre-historic cave drawings discovered in eastern Waxahatchie, it is believed that the family may have been affecting lives around the world even before recorded history.  Some of the more well known contributions that the Leevit family lay claim to are:

- The invention of the 90 degree angle which literally opened up an infinite number of doors, including of course the invention of the corner, square door frame and cinder blocks.

- The discovery of the spherical shape commonly known today as "round".  As we all know this led to the transition from square ball bearings to round ball bearings and machinery became leap years more efficient almost over night.

- In the early days of the automobile there became a need for a pneumatic tire to better fit the comfort and handling needs of the rapidly advancing automotive industry.  This tire is now a staple in the industry.  It is well documented in automotive history that the late Buddy Eldridge Leevit was the individual who invented the flat tire.  This moment in history is also believed to be the moment of birth to a whole slew of four-letter and multi-hyphenated curse words that Mr. B.E. Leevit also holds claim to.

- Ken Ulysis Bradford Leevit worked in the office two doors down and across town from Albert Einstein.  He had gone on record numerous times crediting his proximity to Albert Einstein as the motivating force behind his research into black holes that form inside the brain.  His controversial conclusion that females with blond hair and Mexican tequila were the most frequent sources of these cranial anomalies, almost cost him his medical certification.

Based on eye witness reports, and the lack of any remaining facial hair on the victim, it was determined that despite evidence of a prior facial application of SPF 50 sunblock, death occurred when Mr. Inis B. Leevit was hit in the face by a solar flare.  It is reported that I.B. Leevit's lasts words, only moments before the incident, were a tribute to his late great grand father B.E. Leevit and his respective moment in history.
